Miami Beach Ocean Drive – Miami’s promenade. This well-known street is located in South Beach, which is in the southern part of Miami, and runs parallel to the beach. The street lies in the heart of the Art Deco District and therefore impresses with numerous Art Deco hotels. Today, about 300 buildings from the 1930s and 1940s still remain. Well-known hotels include, for example, the Park Central Hotel or the Colony Hotel. 

The most famous section is between 5th and 14th Street, because this is where Lummus Park is located, which later leads to Miami’s sandy beach. 
Miami Beach Ocean Drive is also known for its nightlife, because there are many trendy bars, restaurants, and clubs here. Some famous personalities also visit various bars in the evening, and it’s not uncommon to see luxury limousines and sports cars driving by. Even though it is now forbidden to drive down the street with loud music, it still happens. 
Every January, Ocean Drive is closed off to host a 3-day party with food and fun. The many visitors enjoy the live performances and admire the parade with classic cars. Hotel guests are advised to be patient with the road closures. These also occur here during Memorial Day Weekend on July 4 and during New Year’s Eve. You should expect major road closures and heavy traffic congestion.

Mark Soyka was the first to open the News Café in 1988, providing a restaurant with 24-hour service. Many people believed at the time that a café on a lightly traveled street had no chance of surviving anyway. But contrary to expectations, these cafés caught on and helped bring the street back to life. 

This street is also famous for its fashion scene. There are many offices of internationally renowned modeling agencies here, and Ocean Drive is also used by many up-and-coming models as a runway to get discovered. Many model scouts are especially here looking for new models and young beauties. 
Directly behind Ocean Drive begins the beautiful white sandy beach that Miami is known for. Even though topless bathing is prohibited in the USA, it is considered a tradition to sunbathe topless at South Beach.
